Pheasant hunting this year (2010) was still a great year. Even with the pheasant population down we had plenty of shooting and we all got our pheasant limits.

I took a couple of friends with me 2 of the 3 times I went. I like taking friends along because I have more chances to shoot birds. When you only go by yourself pheasant hunting and if you are a good shot at shooting pheasants you might shoot 12 times and hit 12 birds and that is your limit for pheasants. But if you take friends the sky is the limit if they are bad shots…. Lucky me!

Depending on the area we’re in. I will leave the vizsla’s in the truck and go on my own. I do this only if the pheasants are spooky. Then sometimes I wish I took the vizslas because I can’t run down a wounded pheasant like they can. So I go back up to the truck and get one of my dogs or both and go find the downed pheasant.
After pheasant hunting is over in North Dakota... Oh yea being only a couple a miles away from South Dakota I have bought a hunting license for South Dakota then I can hunt both North Dakota and South Dakota. Lots of fun that way since South Dakota hunting starts at 10:00 am and noon during the year. 6 birds a day what a hoot!

Next in January it's timefor coyote hunting. Coyote hunting is alot of fun in North Dakota because of the wide open spaces. The only problem I've found is that the coyotes seem to be alot closer then they are. The use of a range finder comes in real handy for ranging.

When my wife and I go for a week in the summer I like to spend time fishing with my friends that I have met from Zeeland. We fish lakes in North Dakota and fish the Missouri River in South Dakota. Great Summer fun!

I did buy a duck and goose license for North Dakota but didn't go. Maybe this year I will go Duck and Goose hunting in North Dakota. We will see.... Too much fun hunting pheasants.

2010

Went out to ND on the 15th for the opener (out of staters) Pretty fair hunting lots of birds but already starting to get skiddish.

It was really hunting this time. Still some crops up and had to hunt for them. It's all about hunting with dogs in North Dakota for me!

1 shy of the limit. Will be going again in a few weeks will give an update then.
